The state institution "Department of Biotechnical Problems of Diagnostics of the Institute of Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" (hereinafter VBTPD) was created in accordance with the resolution of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated November 6, 1996 No. 351 through the reorganization of the Scientific and Engineering Center "LEKON" of the Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology named after RE. Kavetsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. VBTPD is a state-budget non-profit scientific institution under the jurisdiction of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and is part of the Department of Biochemistry, Physiology and Molecular Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Institute of Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine carries out the scientific and methodological management of the activities of the VBTPD IPCC of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Department of Biotechnical Problems of Diagnostics carries out its activities in accordance with the current legislation, the Statute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, decisions of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Bureau of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Statute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The main tasks of VBTPD are conducting fundamental and applied research in the direction of: development of principles, methods and biotechnical systems of disease diagnosis with the aim of obtaining new scientific knowledge and their use for practical purposes, in accordance with the resolution of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated 06.11.1996 No. 351, as well as carrying out scientific and technical (experimental) developments based on scientific knowledge obtained as a result of scientific research, with the aim of bringing such knowledge to the stage of practical use, providing scientific and technical services, conducting scientific and scientific and technical expertise. Ensuring the high quality of scientific research and scientific and technical (experimental) developments, systematic accumulation and generalization of scientific results, creation of conditions for the realization of creative capabilities of the scientific team and social protection of employees.
The department was created for the purpose of conducting scientific research aimed at obtaining and using new knowledge in the field of disease diagnosis, bringing scientific and scientific and technical knowledge to the stage of practical use, training highly qualified scientific personnel, meeting social, economic and cultural needs and innovative development of the country. For the Department, scientific and scientific and technical activity is the main one (According to the Statute of the VBTPD IPKK of the NAS of Ukraine (Statute of the VBTPD IPKK of the NAS of Ukraine, new edition dated 12.22.2016).
Since 1997, M.V. Sydorenko, candidate of medical sciences, has been the head of VBTPD. At the moment, 11 scientific employees work at VBTPD, among them 1 doctor of science, 7 candidates of science. On the basis of VBTPD, two post-graduate students are conducting research work within the framework of preparing their dissertations.
VBTPD employees are active members of leading international and national membership in international professional organizations (European Society for Medical Oncology ESMO; European Association for the Study of Cancer EACR; European Cancer Organization ECCO; European Society for Medical Oncology ESMO; European Association for the Study of Cancer EACR; International Association against cancer Ukrainian society of geneticists O.M. Perepelitsyn, reviewer of journal "Targeted Oncology".
VBTPD has established fruitful relations with such organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as the Institute of Surface Chemistry named after O.O. Chuyka, Institute of Metallurgical Physics, Institute of Physics, SCTB "Institute of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine", National Cancer Institute (MoH of Ukraine), Ukrainian Medical and Stomatological Academy; NSC "Institute of Biology" of Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko, National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon (France), which allowed not only to present the results of research in joint publications, but also to prepare applications for participation in international programs.
