The scientific direction of research is the study of the biology of cells that express marker proteins of epithelial stem and progenitor cells (cancer stem cells) during the formation of a transformed phenotype in the oral mucosa of persons at risk of cancer (tobacco smoking), in precancerous conditions and in the progression of squamous cell carcinoma.
The proteome research group is studying changes in the expression profile of biomarker proteins p53 Ki-67, Bcl-2 and marker proteins of epithelial stem cells p63, Cк5/14, CD44, ALDH1, in the cell layers of the squamous epithelium of the oral mucosa during the formation of a transformed phenotype; epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity during invasion and progression of the tumor process.
- Priority is to study the biology of cells that expressed marker proteins of the epithelial stem cells in formation of the transformed phenotype in oral mucosa of persons with cancer risk (smoking habits), precancerous lesions and progression of the oral squamous cell carcinoma.
  Proteome research group studies changes in the profile of expression of biomarker proteins p53, Ki-67, Bcl-2 and marker proteins of epithelial stem cells p63, Ck5/14, CD44, ALDHI, in cell layers of the squamous epithelium of oral mucosa in the formation of the transformed phenotype; and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in the oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) in invasion and progression of the tumor process.
